Well Visits

Routine well-child visits are essential to keep your child healthy from infancy through adolescence.

Well-child visits, or regularly scheduled checkups for kids, should begin shortly after birth and continue throughout the teenage years. They provide the support growing children need.

Here are a few of the many benefits that come with visiting Guilford Pediatrics:

Preventative care

Topics include your child's sleep habits, hygiene, proper nutrition, and critical learning milestones. Immunizations are also an essential part of keeping your child healthy.

Track your child's growth and development

Well-child visits are an excellent opportunity to see how much your child has grown since their last visit and an ideal time to discuss their overall development.

An opportunity to ask questions

Well-child visits are a great time to raise health, behavioral, or developmental concerns or questions that you may have about your child. We've heard every question possible, so there's no harm in asking anything you're curious or concerned about.

Build trust

Well-child visits are a great way to help build the bond between our pediatric providers and staff, our patients, and their families. This team approach helps develop a child's optimal physical, mental, and social health.

During a well-child visit, our board-certified pediatricians and nurse practitioners will perform the following:

  • A routine physical examination to check your child's overall health and wellness.

  • A comparison of data from your child's previous visits to help track their general growth and development.

  • Any necessary vaccinations. Guilford Pediatrics follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

  • Other important tests like hearing and vision checks.

  • A discussion on topics related to your child's health and safety, including illness prevention, nutrition, and physical fitness.

During the appointment, it's important to make sure that you bring up any concerns you may have about your child's growth and development, especially if you are worried that your child is not reaching important milestones. Don't be afraid to ask questions, medical or otherwise. Our providers may be able to help direct you to the answers you are looking for regarding a wide range of topics, from your child's learning and development to potty training, car safety, and more.
